DWD User Workshop on Climate Services for Urban and Regional Planning
On the 4th of May 2023, the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) held a national user workshop on climate services for urban and regional planning in Offenbach am Main. The morning session started with two presentations which introduced the current development status of the new hybrid HOSTRADA 1 km raster climate data for Germany. As this dataset includes empirically derived urban heat island (UHI) intensities, the UHI-MAP online climate service will be developed within the FPCUP action. The following presentation demonstrated the ORKA-DE web application for nocturnal cold air flow simulations in Germany. The session was concluded with the presentation on surface urban heat island monitoring with examples from cities in Poland and Germany.
The program was completed by an interactive afternoon involving the potential users of the new climate services in the process of further development.
