PhD course on Marine Instrumentation / Metrology.

The course “Measurement at sea” includes a brief history of oceanographic advancements, cartography, map projections (cylindrical, conical, azimutal), positioning at sea. It focuses on the basic oceanographic measurements (conductivity, temperature, pressure) as well as their derived quantities (potential and conservative temperature, salinity, density, specific volume, specific volume anomaly, density, excess density, sigma, speed of sound) and lists the main oceanographic instruments (including those to study current velocity). It is important to Copernicus users interested in marine applications of satellite and modelling data.

The course is coordinated by Anne Petrenko. You can contact her via Email for questions and more information.
