In 2022, Someware was commissioned by CNES in the frame of FPCUP DIAS Priming action to assist four companies, selected by CNES for their various use cases, in selecting the DIAS platforms best suited to their needs.

With DIAS funding coming to an end at the end of 2022, leading to the advent of a new ESA platform (under the name DAS for 'Data Access Service', or 'Data Space'), it seems necessary to study this new offering and how it fits into the current landscape of spatial data platforms.

The first version of the Data Space platform went live in January 2023, with a timetable for upgrading versions/features stretching to the end of 2023.

Carried out during the summer of 2023, and financed by the european program FPCUP / Caroline Herschel, this study is both a theoretical study of the Data Space platform offer and a practical study incorporating a number of tests of the platform and the analysis of concrete use cases.

Its aim is to provide as objective a first look as possible at the platform and how it fits into its ecosystem.
